PUBG to replace DOTA's era?

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) may be a threat to Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) 's fame and glory.

PUBG is a battle royale game-mode that will put up to 100 players on a desolate island where they will search for weapons and kill other players. You can choose a team mode or solo mode. The last man or standing is the winner.

While DOTA is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) type where you team up with four other players (5 in total) and destroy the other team's base. It moved from Blizzard to Steam where it got redesigned.

For 16 years, DOTA dominated the gaming industry destroying other games that rivals it like, League of Legends (LOL), Heroes of Newearth (HON), Special Force (SF), Crossfire (CF) and many more online games.

Now, PUBG just took the spotlight from DOTA in the top ten games in Steam.

Not only that, but it also exceeded the peak players that use the game at a time. Not just exceeded, it surpased DOTA with a very marginal numbers.

If this continues, PUBG may change the future of gaming industry and take DOTA's crown in the world of gaming.

  1. Interesting. The story just needs more details/context, a better lede, and other visual support.
